SlodWorld
Walk an entire procedurally generated planet.
Pick a planet the size of the Moon, or Mercury, or Jupiter, or a two-kilometre comet, and start walking. The ground curves away under you, the sky fades to space as you climb, clouds drift and build into storms, and the sea meets a real horizon.
No level, no edge, no loading screen at the border, because there is no border. Terrain, biomes, and weather all grow from a single seed, so a world is endless and still reproducible: copy the seed out and someone else gets the same planet.
Written from scratch in Rust. In development.
Highlights
- Whole planets at real scale, from a tiny comet up through the Moon, Mercury, Earth, and Jupiter, each at its true radius. Any of them can be walked all the way around.
- Every world grows from a seed, so it is endless yet reproducible, and a seed can be copied out and shared.
- Continents, coastlines, rolling hills, and clustered mountain ranges, with the biome underfoot chosen from local temperature and humidity.
- A physically based day and night cycle, volumetric clouds that gather into storms, and rain and snow that fall only under the clouds you can see.
- Lightning with thunder that arrives late from a distance, and morning fog that pools in the valleys and burns off as the sun climbs.
